The story of Our Noble Quest is a story of the gamut of human emotions played out by people and events that coalesced into the great enterprise that is today’s Lowndes County Schools. From communities like Olympia, Franklinville, Red Flagg, and Melrose up to Titletown, USA, come stories of courage, humor, and determination from the people and events that forged today’s Viking spirit. Our Noble Quest is a history of three centuries of Lowndes County Schools.

Written by Ron Irwin, an educator for 33 years in the Lowndes County School district, in conjunction with numerous contributions provided by Lowndes County past and present educators, Our Noble Quest is about almost 100 public schools from the district’s beginning in 1871 to the community of over 10,000 students and 1,300 employees of today’s educational enterprise.

Set sail on a Viking ship through history in over 170 pages and 160 photographs. From trying times of war and poverty to sterling accomplishments and national recognition, enjoy our Quest.
