Brandi Paramore, a student at Valdosta Technical College, has now completed a high school and college diploma in the same year.

In the fall of 2008, Paramore, who was a Lowndes High School senior at the time, began taking cosmetology core classes at Valdosta Tech. In the spring of 2009, Paramore received her first of two diplomas when she graduated from high school. In the summer following her high school graduation, Paramore received her nail technician license from the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology. The license will allow Paramore to begin her cosmetology career as a nail technician while completing the cosmetology program at Valdosta Tech.

On December 15, 2009, the same year as her high school graduation, Paramore will receive her cosmetology diploma from Valdosta Tech. She will then take her cosmetology license test at the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology.

Paramore also started and completed the dual enrollment nail tech program at Valdosta Tech during her junior year at Lowndes High. She also competed in the Skills USA Championship and won third place in the State of Georgia high school division.

Valdosta Technical College nail technology students learn about nail enhancements, manicures, pedicures, salon management, nail disorders, and the history of cosmetology. The course is open to anyone with or without a high school diploma or GED. Applications are being accepted for winter quarter which begins January 8.
