The Public Relations Department supports the mission and vision of Lowndes County Schools. We strive to improve stakeholder satisfaction and support by providing consistent, timely and accurate information while increasing awareness of opportunities for effective, two-way communication which results in increased student achievement.

The Public Relations Department focuses on the following areas:

We serve our faculty, students and staff through a variety of services and communications. Our Work includes (in random order):

• District and school communications planning
• Website – information and design
• Media relations (placements and tracking)
• Video Production
• Crisis communications
• Work with Chamber of Commerce and other community groups
• Surveys
• Coordinate Calendar Committee activities in creation of system-wide school calendar
• Electronic newsletters (exs. Board Brief, Chalk Talk)
• Special Events (exs. System retirement, groundbreakings, TOTY recognition Spelling Bee, Anniversary celebrations of schools)
• Writer (exs. speeches, position papers, presentations
• System and external publications (ex. State of the Schools, Report Card, newcomer guides)
• Serve as liaison for Moody Air Force Base
• System marketing and branding
• Teacher of the Year (TOTY) program
• School closings/delays communications
• GREAT Award– employee and student recognition program and BOE special recognition requests
• Crimson Card program and employee discount program
• Distribution of materials in schools
