Lowndes County Schools' primary concern is for the health and safety of the students and staff. We are working closely with the Lowndes County Health Department, Emergency Management Agency, and the Georgia Department of Education to better ensure the safety of everyone. These agencies in turn are working with the Center of Disease Control in Atlanta. As of today, May 5th, 2009, there are two known cases of Type A (H1N1) disease (
Swine Flu) in Georgia, and it appears to be contained. However, we are circulating information and taking precautions to hopefully prevent this possibility.
